Frederick W. "Bill" Miller, 81, of Decatur, IL passed away at 9:55 a.m. Wednesday (Jan. 5, 2011) in his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL. Visitation will be from

5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Monday, January 10, 2011 at Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to be directed to New Day Community Church. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com.

 

Mr. Miller was born on March 29, 1929 in Effingham, IL, the son of Theodore R. and Gertrude F. (Barlow) Miller. He graduated from Stephen Decatur High School and attended Millikin University. He was a foreman at A.E. Staley Manufacturing Co. for thirty-three years. Bill was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, receiving the Purple Heart. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #99 and the Staley Club. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and crossword puzzle enthusiast. Bill loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his daughters: Tammy (Rusty) Logue of Decatur, IL, Amy (Frank) Friend of Heyworth, IL; grandchildren: Jonathan Logue, Kristopher Logue, Gracie Friend, Lynnsey Friend; brothers: Jack (Doris) Miller of Antioch, IL, Kenneth Miller of Whittier, CA; sister: Wanda (Lou) Anderson of Decatur, IL; nieces and nephews: Steve Miller, Angie Moore, Patti Purcell, Scott Miller, Lynn Jeskey, Susie Dunlavey, Janice, Luann, Larry and Kelly; close friends: Bill and Jodie Bright of Decatur, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
